देश के नए राष्ट्रपति के रूप में चुने गए रामनाथ कोविंद के कानपुर देहात के झींझाक स्थित घर में आज घी के दिये जलाए गए, मिठाइयां बांटी गईं और अबीर और गुलाल उड़ता दिखा। झींझाक स्थित इस घर में उनके भाई रहते हैं।
NDA की तरफ से राष्ट्रपति पद के उम्मीदवार रामनाथ कोविंद चुनाव जीतने के बेहद भावुक हो गए। उन्होंने देश की जनता और जनप्रतिनिधियों का आभार जताया।

रामनाथ कोविंद का जन्म कानपुर के गांव परौंख में 1 अक्टूबर 1945 को हुआ। उनके पिता एक परचून दुकानदार थे। कोविंद ने आठवीं की कक्षा में डॉक्टर भीमराव अंबेडकर की जीवनी पढ़ी थी और तभी से उनके मन में कुछ नया हासिल करने की इच्छा जगी थी।

NDA की तरफ से राष्ट्रपति पद के उम्मीदवार रामनाथ कोविंद चुनाव जीत गए हैं। उन्होंने यूपीए की उम्मीदवार मीरा कुमार को बड़े अंतर से हरा दिया है। रामनाथ कोविंद को 7 लाख दो हजार 44 वोट मिले जबकि मीरा कुमार को तीन लाख 67 हजार 314 वोट मिले।
